Answered Prayers and Cooler Airs!!!

Hey fam!
I know the subject doesn't make sense but it rhymes! :) haha Im here in Lima and have like 2 minutes so this is going to be quick. We are here getting our VISAS. woo! All is well. It was such a great week. So many experiences. The one Ill choose to share was Thursday when all our appointments fell through. We decided to say a prayer to know what to do. We were going to the side of the road by a house, we folded our arms to say it, and the door opened right up right before we said it!!! I never knew a prayer could be answered before it is said, but it can! The lord knows our desires. Well our desire was to find a family to teach. And we sure did! I konw the lord is mindful of each of us and loves us so much, he will do all he can to help us reach our goals, as we show our faith.
Love yall so much! until next week!!!
love,
hna Garlick
ps its getting cooler and its so great. Im wearing a cardigain again. woo!

Expect Miracles

My Dear Family!

It was the greatest week ever filled with miracles! Well, it always is, but the Lord did it again. :) We went to a waterfall in Moropon in Caracucho today with the Zone. It was so beautiful, the green hills and long hike and lots of cows to get there was well worth it. It reminded me of the waterfall we went to in Peru! Im so thankful for the beauty of this earth! One day Ill be able to send pictures. :)

Bishop Steel from my provo YSA ward sent us an email, talking about one of his main themes, which is, Expect Miracles! I had this be the focus of my week, and it was amazing to see the miracles the Lord performed for us. As we expect miracles to happen, they do, because we have the faith, diligence, and obedience required for them to happen. The first one was as we were looking for a new apartment. We found SO many new investigators, new inactive members who are very receptive and want to change! It was so amazing to see that through looking for a new room, we have been lead to so many perpared people. Now I know why we need to move rooms! Next miracle, all our appointments fell through one morning. We were walking for 3 hours straight! Normally the sun is super sharp and hot in the mornings, but it was cloudy and cool! The Lord is looking out for us. Next one, we went to lunch on sunday with the Cabanas. We wanted to share a message about the word of wisdom after, especially for their son Christian. well he was at work, and RIGHT before we started the message, he walked in. Miracle! We were about to go to lunch early, but decided to wait until 1, and I know why now! Next, we sang I am a child of God in Church with la familia canayo, and sang in spanish, english, and guarani! The spirit was so strong and I am so thankful we were able to bring the spirit to te meeting! Its amazing to see that when you are looking for and living like miracles are going to happen, they do. Thanks to te miracle of the atonement of Jesus Christ, we are living a miracle every day!

Other fun things happening. We are one of the 4 missions starting a Pilote plan for family history! We are supposed to use the booklets My Family, every day, and are focusing on helping our investigators prepare names for the temple. We have a new key indicator to report every week--how many names we helped prepare for the temple from our converts and less active families we are teaching! Our district leader gave us a training on the new familysearch.org, and we are going to help the members here to use it! Im excited to get this going and know that we will see miracles through it. Not many people here have computors, but I know there is nothing that is impossible for the Lord. Were going to do it so these families can be eternal! Thats what this is all about. The work of Salvation is the greatest.

President Rowley told us this week we should carry a Libro de Mormon IN our hand, everywhere we go! Trying that this week was fun! I love it. It helps us refer to the book of mormon so much more, and is a constant reminder to me of our purpose. Also, people are curious to know what it is we are holding. Before the mission I was always holding my iphone in my right hand walking around. The book of mormon is just a little bit bigger, but full of a whole lot more power. This book has changed my life and am so happy to be a missionary and see it change others! Its true isnt it? Then what else matters! What do yall carry around when you walk? Maybe a book of mormon wouldnt be a bad idea. :)

Our investigators are doing well. There are lots of struggles with being able to come to church, but we are working hard and have lots of faith. Eddi hasnt missed a sunday in a month. He is so great, has a great testimony, and is reading his book of mormon each day! What a great example. hes 11!

I love being here! I love my companion so much. We come back to the room aboslutely exhausted each day, and we are so happy! We talk to more people than we have ever talked to, we ask for more references, and receive more than we ever have. The more you put into something, the more you get out. We are seeing this here in Chulucanas!! President Rowley said we need to stop walking, and start running! Ive always loved running, and its healthier too. But as we have put this into practice more, we have seen how inspired it is and how much we need to run in te work of the Lord! So stop walking, and everyone get running! We can do it.

This week we also had some great new food combinations. First one, was when te whole glass of inca cola of my companion spilled on our fresh backed pizza from Carola!! hahaa We ate it anyway, pretty good! Next one, is Guacasweet! yall need to try this. Hna Arce always eats her avacados with sugar!!! it was super weird at first, but tastes so good. Just put a lil milk and sugar in their and mash it all up and eat it with a cracker and cookie and youll say, hna Garlick was right.. :) She also let me try her drink from Paraguay, Terere. Its this drink that tastes like mint! I like it! Ok, and the last one is, you mash up a banana and put oatmeal in there, and then pour milk over it and eat it! Super fast and good. And healty too.

Well, I love yall so much! This work is so amazing. I am so blessed to be a missionary at such a time as this. I know Christ lives and loves me, I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Its in my hand every second of the day.

Con MUCHO amor,
hermana Garlick

Rohaihu....I love you!

hola fam!!

I had such a blast talking to yall yesterday!! Its amazing we can all be together at one time, and all be so far away. I love technology. :) Cant believe how big the boys are (can I still call them that??) That 40 minutes was definitely a highlight of the week!!! And there were lots more highlights too!

Bianca is a memeber here who yall might have seen on facebook... haha... and she is waiting for her mission call! Well the other day she came with us to visit, and wow, it was so great. The first three appointments fell through. We were saying, we know its for a reason! We then went to visit her aunt, Antonia, an hour earlier than her appointment, but we thought we should do it anyway. Well we did and she was just about to leave to go to the gym because her friend invited her! I am so thankful we were able to get there when we did so that we could teach her before she went to the gym! I know the Lord´s hand is in everything, even when las citas fall through.

The other great highlight was when Eddi(alexiss younger brother) and Vuenefel(son of a less active family who isnt baptized) came to church, that I already told yall! They are 10 and 11, and both came all alone! But they became best friends fast. I dont know if I ever would have walked far to go to church all alone. But they did! and Its incredible to see their faith. I know they are going to be the examples their parents needs, and As we keep praying for them and their families in faith, we will see miracles.

The other day in my personal study I was focusing on the atonement. At the end of this month, Elder C Scott Grow is coming to our mission!!!! (of the seventy). There is a talk he wrote called the miracle of the atonement. It is so great. He talks about how he has seen the atonement work in the life of his brother. Its incredible to see here the atonement working in the lives of so many people who choose to let it, and especially in mine! In each of the 5 lessons from preach my gospel, they about Jesus Christ and his atonement! This theme isnt interwoven through each lesson on accident. Christ really is central in his message, and as his representative I love testifying of him in every lesson we are in. I am so thankful for Jesus CHrist, for his great and eternal sacrifice, and that because of him we can all return to live with him and our Heavenly Father, and our families. What great blessings are awaiting us!!

The other week when I was with hna Peterson, I forgot to tell yall something that I really loved! Before we said night prayer, we each said what were were grateful for, and something we need or woud like to ask. Then we said the prayer, and it really made the prayer so much more meaningful, focused, and full of the spirit. I want to keep doing that through my life!

Well, Love yall lots! Keep being so great and building up others. Stand a little taller! (but not jared or dallin...haha) Come what may and love it!
love yall!
Rohaihu!
love,
hna Garlick

Let's Play the Glad Game!

Hola Familia!

What a week! Great news, Im here in Chulucanas for another transfer!!!! :) 6 months in paita, and 6 in Chulucanas it will be. I am so so happy! Hna Hualinga went to Paita! I am with Hermana Arce, from Paraguay! She is the sweetest thing ever and I am so excited to be her companion. She has 4.5 months in the mission, and is the 3rd of 7 siblings! she also speaks Guarani! Im not too sure what that is, but it sounds super cool! Im excited to learn some to talk to her family on Sunday. :)

This week Pedro came to church for the first time! Hes a less active member who we have invited to church SO many times. Well, he came! Miracles happen and we were so happy. Now we are going to get the rest of his family there too.

This week I had an exchange with Hermana Peterson, she is from, Texas too! It was a blast, she is an incredible missionary and I learned lots from her. She told me, ¨lets play the glad game!¨like in pollyanna, and like how you always say mom! Its something that is so important to do in life. Look around you and see why you are glad, and of everything good and happy that is happening. We have so many blessings, and life is so much better and full when we are optimistic. She really helped me a lot this week and I am so thankful for inspired missionaries! The Lord sends us what we need, right when we need it.

I have some great pictures to send but the computer I always get doenst work with pictures. One monday! :)

Friday we did an activity in the church with the libritos Mi familia! We are helping the members and conversos to prepare names for the temple, and this is where we all should start! It was fun talking abou the blessings of the temple and about families. Two of my favorite things! Im excited for the mothers day talent show friday, it will be great and I hope our investigators will be able to make it!!!
